48th Ward Neighbors for Justice is dedicated to creating a space that is welcoming to all, and financial hardship should never be a barrier to involvement in our work. If you would like to become a member via contributing dues in the form of volunteer work (no questions asked), please contact us at members@48thneighbors.org for information on committing to volunteer dues.
We are a growing group of neighbors building power to enact real change on a local level.
48th Ward Neighbors for Justice is dedicated to supporting leftist causes and representing the political interests of the multiracial working class in Edgewater, Andersonville, Uptown, Rogers Park, and neighborhoods across the city. Through direct action, issues-based campaigns, and electoral organizing, we believe in taking back power from entrenched political and corporate interests by building an alternative source of power within the ward.
We have been organizing together since way back in 2019, when we could all meet outside over beers, and have come together with real urgency on the issues exacerbated by the dual forces of the COVID-19 pandemic and the uprising in response to racist police.
In order to become a member of 48th Ward Neighbors for Justice, we ask that you take a look at our philosophical pillars to determine if our values align. These core values include fighting for housing justice, economic justice, defunding the police, environmental justice, disability justice, and demanding resources and support for Chicago Public Schools (CPS) students and teachers.
